It’s been a fantastic weekend, at last! Sun, sun and then more sun!
Yesterday morning, I got out early to go for a run. And Dora the dog was allowed to tag along. We got along much better with her extendable lead, she didn’t trip me up this time. The run felt great and so much easier. Not sure if it is because of the longer run I did or if it is my body pump classes that has improved my endurance? Or maybe it was just the warmth of the morning sun?
Today we spent the day on the beach, what a wonderful past-time. The boys loved it and so did I! I think I even got the beginning of a tan to show for it. But there is at least another two months to go before I go for a swim. The water is FREEZING. Still the sea was packed with surfers fighting for the waves, including my husband. Not unusual to see six people taking off on the same wave. I am surprised there are so few accidents out there.
Amazing to think though; here you are on the beach late March and it’s packed with people… When we left at four, there was a traffic jam to get in to the parking by the beach… The portuguese like to go for their beach strolls after siesta at 3pm.
So here’s for a new week with a Spring theme.
We went to watch the Nazare Surf Pro 2010 on the weekend, it was a glorious day, with blue skies…but so cold!
Luckily we dressed for snow, as the wind was howling down on North Beach. But it was so fresh and beautiful, and I think we all felt great after our day on the beach.
The people didn’t come out in masses as for the Rip Curl Pro this September, but there was a good few people that braved the weather, to watch Justin Mujica win the event.
North Beach in Nazare is a stunning beach, the kids loved exploring the rocks and was so excited when they found an old rusty anchore… maybe the pirates have been here?

The sun was shining, the water was glassy and hordes of people turned up to see who would take home the Rip Curl Pro Portugal 2010 trophy. I’m sure none of you would be surprised to hear that the champion is Kelly Slater. Jordy Smith came second after battling it out with Kelly in the final. The Pro’s put on a good show, and now the build up starts for next year!

Went to Pica do Mota today to watch the men’s round 5 of the Rip Curl Pro 2010.
Still dragging my “not-so-common” cold with me, but it feels a bit better today. Hurra! The weather was lovely, at last! I did not have to take my windbreaker out once. Hurra! As you can tell it’s been a good day today.
Kelly Slater , Jordy Smith and the others makes surfing look so easy…
